New Amiibo Focused Mario vs. Donkey Kong Game Announced

With the success of the Amiibo, comes more and more Amiibo focused titles. Yes this is no surprise, Nintendo is, and has been looking to milk their success of the Amiibo’s since they first started flying off store shelves late 2014. Late last year, the company launched “Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival” which was their first major Amiibo focused title.

Earlier today however, Nintendo of Japan revealed yet another Amiibo focused title, a new Mario vs Donkey Kong, to be exact! The announcement came alongside with a video showcasing a variety of different amiibo and their functions in several of their already released titles.

The new title is officially called “Mini Mario & Friends: Amiibo Challenge”, while it seems Donkey Kong is still the main villain of this title, it seems the additional amiibo functions, and the ability to play as other Nintendo characters was enough for them to completely change the name.

Mini Mario & Friends: Amiibo Challenge is set to release on both Wii U and 3DS, and will feature compatibility with 10 different amiibo, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Rosalina, Toad, Bowser, Baby Bowser, Donkey Kong, and Diddy Kong.

As of now the title is only set to arrive on Japanese eShops on January 28th, however it’s more than likely we will hear details regarding an official US release during the next Nintendo Direct, which is more than likely to take place sometime in February.
