Gran Turismo Sport was initially announced back at Paris Games Week 2015, seemingly out of nowhere. While many of us have been expecting for sometime, Sony to announce a Gran Turismo 7, the company seems to have begun taking a Forza like approach on the franchise, beginning to release a side title, before the next mainline game is released. Gran Turismo Sport was originally set to be release in 2016, however some reports have come out suggesting that the title may not arrive until sometime in 2017.
A report coming from the Italian website, tmag.it, has claimed to obtained some information regarding the title during one of their meeting with Polyphony Digital’s own, Kazunori Yamauchi.
The reporter has claimed he was able to get his hands on a demo of the title a few month back, and that the beta for the game has now been scheduled for late 2016, hinting that the full title may not actually be available until 2017.
More surprisingly however, the reporter has claimed that Gran Turismo Sport will not simply be Gran Turismo 6 re-mastered and polished for PS4, yet a much lager title ultimately being the next major installment of the series, with Polyphony Digital to push it as being a big eSports title!
Ultimately these reports are mere rumors until we hear otherwise from Sony themselves, but from the sounds of things thus far, I wouldn’t mind waiting until 2017 for the title as long as we receive a beta. It’s not Gran Turismo without a release delay.
