Last night, Square Enix held their Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event, which was streamed live to Twitch.TV. During the event, the company announced a slew of details surrounding the next major installment in the Final Fantasy franchise: Final Fantasy XV.
First off, and most importantly, the title is set to be released worldwide on September 30th, 2016. As noted earlier, the company has been striving to release the title if not at the same time at least around the same time everywhere. With this simultaneous release it seems they have achieved that goal.
Final Fantasy XV will have two limited edition bundles: an Ultimate Edition and a Deluxe Edition.
The Ultimate Edition Collector’s Edition is set to include – An exclusive Play Arts Kai Noctis figure, a hardcover 192 page art book, an exclusive steelbook containing Blu-ray DVDs of Brotherhood and Kingsglaive as well as soundtrack music, various DLC items, and of course, the Final Fantasy XV game. All at a price point of $269.99
The Deluxe Edition is set to include – The Final Fantasy XV game, the Kingsglaive CG movie on Blu-ray, DLC items (same as the DLC items included in the Ultimate Edition), and a steelbook. All at a price point of 89.99
The game is also set to include a standard, Day One Edition, which will include the game, and a Masamune DLC weapon.
Pre-orders have now gone live for all of the bundles. You’ll be put on a waiting list, but to be safe you’re better off signing up as soon as possible.
As a side note, Microsoft is giving away a special Final Fantasy XV themed console, over on their official Twitter account. This themed console has not yet been announced to be available for purchase, so odds are it may be one of a kind.
The official twitter account tweeted “RT and follow for a chance to win a #FFXV [RP] collectible console.”
The console is also set to include a special Xbox One controller, Final Fantasy XV the game, as well as 12 months of Xbox Live Gold. You can find out all of the details on how to get yourself into the giveaway by visiting this page.
All in all, it’s great to see Final Fantasy XV, at long last, being fully uncovered. With the company releasing both an animated short for the upcoming game Brotherhood as well as a CGI film Kingsglaive, Final Fantasy XV is shaping up to be the biggest, most hyped, and most anticipated Final Fantasy title to date. After a lot of the backlash the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy received, Square Enix really seems to be putting all their cards on the table in attempts to make this the best Final Fantasy title yet. I myself am extremely excited, with this easily being my most anticipated title for 2016.
Final Fantasy XV will arrive on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 30th, 2016. Information regarding a possible PC release has not yet been announced.
