Naughty Dog Denies Jak and Daxter 4 Development. Here comes the tears

With Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End quickly closing in on us all, many of us are beginning to wonder what will be next for Naughty Dog, after Uncharted 4 has released and has ran it’s course. With Jak and Daxter being quite a infamous franchise from the companies past, many fans have been hoping that a fourth iteration may be in the works. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case.

A recent interview was conducted by Finder.com along with Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer, during the interview, the question of the existence of Jak and Dexter 4 was brought up, as recent freelance artists have apparently been releasing some art for the franchise, which led fans to believe a new game was in the works. Meyer had the following to say about the situation –

There’s a lot of art we didn’t release – some that we did put together. But there’s nothing in the works right now. You have to remember, a lot of the time, a lot of the artists that we work with are big fans of our games”.

It’s very interesting to see studio’s become very hesitant to begin releasing sequels for fan-favorite franchises of the past. Some of my favorite titles to arrive on PS2 were the Ape Escape games, Parrapa the Rapper 2, and Jak and Daxter, each one of these titles have not received a main console sequel since the PS2, which I find quite strange as they were all fairly successful franchises. Perhaps we may see a Remastered Collection for Jak and Daxter before we see a fourth iteration.

E3 is just around the corner, and I’m sure there’s at least one surprise in store for us coming from Naughty Dog, hopefully that has something to do with the Jak and Daxter franchise.
