This generation of consoles have been quite interesting, especially when it comes to Microsoft’s Xbox One. The Xbox One has been trailing behind the PS4’s success ever since it’s launch back in 2013. Falling a tad bit short of the hardware capabilities that the PS4 contains, Microsoft has seemed to be taking note of the Xbox One’s life, thus far, and may now be ready to do something to improve it, greatly.
An anonymous report has recently explained to Kotaku that a new Xbox One model, which is said to be a more powerful version of the Xbox One, will be launching sometime in 2017. This new Xbox One is said to contain a more beefy GPU, which would definitely enable the console to display 4k, enable VR capabilities, as well as the ability to finally get out of that 900p rut many titles have found themselves in on the Xbox One.
Alongside this, it has also been reported that Microsoft is readying a slimmer and cheaper model of the current Xbox One model, to release before the end of this year.
With E3 2016 just around the corner, it’s likely we will hear something regarding these updated models of the Xbox One, if they are in fact real, and will likely learn a bit more about them as well as official pricing and launch info. Rumors surrounding both Sony and Microsoft, prepping to launch updated models of their current-generation hardware, have been going around for quite sometime now; so it’s looking fairly likely that we will in fact be receiving some sort of console revamp for each respective system, one way or another.
If you are just as curious as I am about this apparent new Xbox One model, be sure to tune into Microsoft’s E3 2016 Press Conference, which will be taking place on Monday, June 13th.
