The “Xbox Play Anywhere Support” feature announced during E3 2016 was probably one of the best things I’ve heard from Microsoft in quite awhile. Essentially giving buyers of Microsoft Studio-published titles a Windows 10 copy and Xbox One copy of that given game; the play anywhere feature connects both Xbox players and Windows 10 players together like never before.
Since the initial announcement during E3 2016, quite a few gamer’s have a been a tad bit confused as to exactly how the feature would work. With that said, Microsoft has recently went into a bit further detail regarding how exactly everything will work, and which upcoming titles will be apart of this “Play Anywhere Support” feature.
The company has recently stated that “Every new title published from Microsoft Studios that we showed onstage at E3 this year will support Xbox Play Anywhere…” While this statement does narrow things down quite a bit, odds are the company has several other titles up their sleeve that will also take advantage of this feature. The following titles are:
- Ark: Survival Evolved
- Crackdown 3
- The Culling
- Cuphead
- Everspace
- Forza Horizon 3
- Gears of War 4
- Halo Wars 2
- Killer Instinct – Seasons 1, 2 and 3
- Phantom Dust
- ReCore
- Scalebound
- Sea of Thieves
- Slime Rancher
- State of Decay 2
- We Happy Few
As a reminder, buyers that are hoping to play their Xbox games on PC will have to have Windows 10 Anniversary Edition update installed on their PC in order to play.
Windows 10 is the only factor holding me back from completely switching over to PC to play first party Microsoft titles. The idea of having Windows 10 as my main operating system, is a bit unsettling as of now. I will however, most likely take the route of installing the OS on a dedicated HDD which will only be used to play Microsoft titles.
