Gamescom 2016 is about a month away, and with it being one of the last few, larger scale, video game industry events of 2016; many fans and gamer’s alike are awaiting to hear any last big announcements companies may have been holding out on till later in the year. Unfortunately, Microsoft has recently revealed that they will be skipping their usual media press conference this year, and will instead be holding their own smaller scale event.
The event Microsoft has announced is called “Xbox FanFest“, and will mainly be focused on giving fans an opportunity to dive deeper into some of the company’s upcoming releases. Microsoft still will however, be present on the Gamescom show floor and will have demos for Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars 2, Recore, and We Happy Few for players to get their hands on. Aside from this, not much else was stated as to how exactly the Xbox FanFest will work, however more information has been said to be on the way.
Microsoft’s own, Arron Greenberg had the following to say regarding the announcement:
“While we will not be hosting a media briefing this year, we’re planning a new and more intimate Xbox FanFest experience for our fans across Europe and worldwide attending gamescom 2016. We will be sharing more details on our gamescom 2016 Xbox FanFest soon.”
We’ve seen more and more companies begin to branch off from larger scale industry events, and begin hosting their own as of recent. Nintendo seemed to be the first to start, with a few others recently following, and now Microsoft. Hopefully whatever they have in store for the Xbox FanFest, features some sort of media briefing or live show, where they can perhaps squeeze in a few new announcements.
