We recently reported the confirmation that Microsoft would not be holding a Press Conference at this years upcoming Gamescom, which is set to take place next month in Germany. While Microsoft did in fact announce another event of their own which would be taking place, that will be solely focused on Xbox, the company skipping out on Gamescom is a bit of a big hole to fill, especially with another company giant also recently announcing the lack of a press conference this year.
That’s right, you guessed it, Sony has also confirmed that they will not be holding a press conference at Gamescom 2016. Reported on NeoGaF, Juex Video asked PlayStation France if the company would be holding a press conference at this years Gamescom; Sony responded and confirmed that there in fact, will not be a press conference this year. Many gamer’s were initially expecting the company to skip out on a press conference this year, especially considering the fact that the company also skipped out on one last year.
Much like Microsoft however, Sony will still be displaying new PlayStation 4 content on the show floor, including upcoming titles, as well as a lot of VR related stuff.
If you’re like me, and most likely many other PlayStation fans, odds are you are still waiting for that PlayStation Neo announcement, which has been stated to be arriving sometime before the end of the year. While Gamescom now, doesn’t seem to be the place the announcement will be taking place, it’s looking quite likely that October’s Paris Games Week, would be a suitable event for the company to announce it’s upgraded console.
I’m a bit disappointed to hear about the lack of Press Conferences at Gamescom this year. I guess that means that we’ll likely be receiving our PlayStation NEO, and Nintendo NX reveals around the same time, as companies generally like to finish up their big announcements for the year, before the Holiday season kicks off. October is shaping up to be a HUGE month for gamer’s this year.
