It’s a new month, which means new Pokemon Sun & Moon details are just about ready to be rolled out. Today, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company dropped some pretty big reveals for the upcoming title, that actually gave myself, and likely many others, a pretty big shock.
Pokemon Sun & Moon will now introduce something we haven’t really seen in a Pokemon title before. The companies revealed unique forms for some classic 1st generation Pokemon, which are entitled “Alola Forms”. These new forms will take place as your Pokemon adapt to their climate surroundings. A few examples of these forms are a Snow Cloaked Vulpix and Ninetales, as well as a more tropical tree, yet Dragon-like Exeggutor. Yeah, it’s actually as weird and crazy as it sounds.

Along with these unique form changes, the Pokemon’s type will also change. What a twist, right? While only a select few Pokemon have been revealed to contain these Alola Forms, as of now, it’s very likely more are to be announced down the line.

Lastly, alongside the addition of the announcement of Alola Forms; Z-moves have also been announced, which are essential an attack option which will deliver power attacks by utilizing a Z crystal, which your Pokemon will hold. Imagine it like a sort of mega-evolution for your attacks.
Being an entirely new generation, Pokemon Sun & Moon is looking to change the way we play Pokemon, once again. And while I feel things are getting a little bit more weird with every new generation, I’m forced to basically deal with it because…well..it’s Pokemon. You can learn more about the Alola Forms and Z-Moves by checking out the recently released trailer, below.
Pokemon Sun & Moon launches on Nintendo 3DS on November 18th.
