Titanfall 2 has been one of the more quietly discussed, upcoming launch titles that will be arriving this Fall, that does not mean however, that people are not excited for it. For those who cannot wait to get their hands on the title; Vince Zampella, who is the studio founder of Respawn Entertainment, has stated that gamer’s who are interested in the beta should “keep the next two weekends free” possible hinting that the beta will be arriving sometime this week, and will span into the following week.
It was also announced, however, that a Titanfall PC beta will not be available. While this is a bit strange, considering most, if not all betas are generally used for test-stressing servers, it seems Respawn has their own reasoning for the lack of PC this time around, as they issued the following statement:
“Two big issues from a development standpoint: hardware variety & “min spec” optimization. We’re still making a lot of tweaks and changes to the renderer, the game, and effects so we haven’t run the game through the hardware compatibility lab yet to detect and handle a large variety of hardware – video cards, CPUs etc. Quite frankly, we aren’t ready to deal with that yet, we are still making the game better. We also haven’t done enough work to fully support our ‘Min Spec’ on PC yet. So, currently the PC game isn’t as easy to throw out for testing as the console is, because of the additional variables and configurations that we need to support.”
From the sound of things, it seems the console versions of the title, have definitely been the priority through development, as the company is still figuring out how the game will run on specific PC hardware. Reasonable, I suppose. The company also expressed their concern of the possibility of single player campaign content being leaked. And even though the single player will not be available during the beta, it seems that PC users would have the capability, if they held the right tools, to dig through the files and potentially dig up information and data regarding the single player campaign.
While no official release date has been announced as of yet regarding Titanfall 2’s beta period, it seems based on Vince Zempella’s statement, that the beta will be arriving sometime this week on PS4 and Xbox One.
