Final Fantasy XV has seen a lot of changes over the past decade or so, since it’s initial announcement as “Final Fantasy XIII Versus”. The game received a fairly sizable plot shift, some character change-ups, and even a complete title change. With more of what we have seen so far, since it’s announcement as “Final Fantasy XV”, being more open-world based, many fans have been wondering how exactly the game structure and setting will be played out throughout the entire duration of the game. Luckily, the director of Final Fantasy XV, Hajime Tabata, recently spoke with Famitsu regarding the games layout and structure.
Right off the bat, the director has confirmed that the title will include 15 chapters within the main story, total. However, how the game plays throughout the entire story, will not be the same from start to finish. Hajime Tabata revealed that players will see a sort of split take place within the story, with the first half of the game being more open-world based, and the second half being a little bit more linear. The director has stated that this was done to please both current audiences of the Final Fantasy franchise; which is quite a good idea from my perspective. The overall gameplay time for the game has also been revealed, with the main story totaling up to about 40-50 hours, without doing side-quests.
Final Fantasy XV is definitely a large game, right off the bat. I personally cannot wait to see how the story will evolve over time and how the overall dynamic of the game will shift, as the story progresses. November cannot come soon enough!
Final Fantasy XV arrives on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 29th.
