The Nintendo 3DS is really the only good thing Nintendo currently has going for them, and with the release of Pokemon GO recently, the company has saw sales for the 3DS systems pick up quite a bit. The increase in sales is likely due to Pokemon GO users prepping for Pokemon Sun & Moon, which are currently slated to launch this November.
Now with the sales picking up once again, Nintendo has taken the opportunity to share with all of us their upcoming plans for the Nintendo 3DS as well as it’s upcoming titles, and titles that are TBA. The company has announced that they will be holding a Nintendo Direct which will be focused on the 3DS. The Direct will be taking place this Thursday, September 1st at 7am Pacific Time, 10am Eastern Time. While many gamer’s may be holding out a little bit of hope for a possible NX reveal, Nintendo has stated that there will be no reveal of the NX during the Direct. What a surprise, right?
Nintendo is likely to touch on many of the upcoming titles for the Nintendo 3DS, such as Pokemon Sun & moon, Yo-Kai Watch 2, Dragon Quest VII, Story of Seasons, and more. I’m personally hoping they touch a little bit on the upcoming Animal Crossing New Leaf DLC, that would be a dream!
All in all, the future of the Nintendo 3DS seems a bit cloudy, especially with the likeliness of the Nintendo NX being hybrid. Holiday 2016 may be the final year the Nintendo 3DS will be in the handheld spotlight.
