As we were informed via a late-Summer 2016 Nintendo Direct, the company revealed plans regarding a new Animal Crossing: New Leaf update, which was slated to arrive sometime during Fall of 2016; which would implement amiibo functionality into the game, 50 new villagers, and more. The company also revealed that a Mini-Direct presentation would be taking place sometime within November, which has now been confirmed for November 2nd.
While quite a bit has already been revealed overtime regarding the upcoming Autumn update for Animal Crossing: New Leaf, there is still quite a bit we don’t know in terms of how exactly the amiibo functionality will act in the game. We know Nintendo will be releasing Animal Crossing themed amiibo card-packs, which player’s will be able to utilize in the game, allowing new villagers to visit their town; however, we don’t know too much in regards to what exactly these new villagers will do, and how exactly they’ll impact the town.
It was also revealed not too long ago, that the update will include an amiibo camera function; which will allow users to capture pictures with their favorite Animal Crossing characters presented inside of them. It’s quite similar to what Nintendo introduced with the Miitomo camera feature.
As a huge Animal Crossing fan, I am both extremely happy, and stoked to see Nintendo supporting New Leaf with new content, even though it’s been out for awhile; and has seemingly been abandoned, prior to the announcement of the Autumn update. Hopefully this isn’t the last of updates which Nintendo reveals for New Leaf; another full year of monthly DLC would definitely be nice!
The Animal Crossing: New Leaf Mini-Direct will be taking place tomorrow, November 2nd at 7am PDT, 9am CDT, and 10am EDT.
