If you’ve been thinking about picking up Halo Wars 2 on the PC but has been hesitant mainly due to the title being digital-only, you may want to get your wallets ready now as a physical PC release of the title has recently been confirmed.
Microsoft has reportedly partnered with THQ Nordic to provide a Windows 10 version of Halo Wars 2 for a physical release on store shelves. There will be two separate editions for this physical release; which includes a Standard Edition for $60, and an Ultimate Edition for $80. The Ultimate Edition of the physical copy will come with a season pass, a copy of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, as well as early access for Halo Wars 2.
Despite this being a physical release, buyers will still be provided with a code upon release which must be used to install the game on the PC; due to this ultimately being a digital download, you’ll also be happy to know that you’ll have the Xbox Play Anywhere eligibility for the title; so if you ever want to play on the Xbox One, you’ll be able to do that as well for no additional cost.
The CEO of THQ Nordic, Lars Wingefors had the following to say regarding the announcement of the Physical Release of Halo Wars 2:
“After working on so many titles together with Microsoft in 2016, we are stoked to start the year with another partnership. Being able to deliver such a big franchise to RTS and Halo fans alike, the opportunity to buy and own this game in a beautiful physical shape is something we appreciate a lot.”
