Internet Browser for Nintendo Switch Will Not Be Present At Launch

In the event that your Smart-phone for some odd reason does not have a functioning web browser application, you’ll probably be quite upset to hear that the Nintendo Switch will not have a Web Browser application itself, present during it’s launch.

In a recent Q/A session with the President of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima, Mr. Takahashi confirmed that the Nintendo Switch would not have an Internet Browser available for use on launch, however, it is not something that has been completely ruled out – to be released later down the line.

His exact statement was “In terms of the Internet browser, since all of our efforts have gone toward making Switch an amazing dedicated video game platform, it will not support it, at least at launch.”

It’s a bit discouraging to see so many features which were once present on both the Nintendo 3DS systems, the Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo Wii U that were available on launch – to be left out entirely for the Nintendo Switch. It seems Nintendo is almost aiming for the Switch to be a device used for gaming and gaming only, especially considering several other popular social features such as voice chat, Miiverse, and more, will not be available on the system.

We have yet to receive an official glimpse as to how the Switch’s online functions will operate, with less than a month until the consoles official launch. Hopefully Nintendo sheds a bit more light on more of the Switch’s online functions soon.

The Nintendo Switch arrives on March 3rd, 2017.
