Microsoft surprised us all this week with an announcement for a service that could very well be their own video game rendition of Netflix entitled “Xbox Game Pass”.
The Xbox Game Pass is a new Xbox Subscription service which gives users access to over 100 Xbox One and backwards compatible Xbox 360 games for only $9.99 a month. The service is quite similar to Sony’s “PlayStation Now” service in a way, however, users will not be streaming the titles which are available to them. Instead, all titles that are currently available within the service, can be downloaded in the fullest, to the Xbox One console.
This is awesome news for those who may not have the strongest internet connection, or for players who want to be able to play titles without having to worry about interruptions and or latency.
One of the best things about Xbox Game Pass is that you can discover and download the full titles directly on your Xbox One. That means continuous, full-fidelity gameplay without having to worry about streaming, bandwidth or connectivity issues. In addition, all Xbox One games in the catalog – and related add-ons – will be available to purchase at an exclusive discount for Xbox Game Pass members, so you can make the games you love part of your permanent library to play whenever you want. Every month new games will cycle into the subscription with some cycling out, giving you a constantly-updating library of games. Xbox Game Pass is your ticket to endless play.
While the company did not exactly go into detail as to how exactly the service will function in terms of titles that are downloaded, but have cycles out from the service; I feel it’s safe to assume that we’ll be downloading a Xbox Game Pass version of the title, and or will be launching the title through a dedicated app which pertains to the Xbox Game Pass service. Regardless of that, Microsoft has already announced a slew of publishers which will have title apart of the service, such as 2K, 505 Games, BANDAI NAMCO, Capcom, Codemasters, Deep Silver, SEGA, Warner Bros, and many more. If you’re into casino games, you might want to explore PayPal casino sites for added entertainment.
An alpha beta period for the service has already kicked off for a select number of members within the Xbox Insider Program, so expect to hear more in depth detail regarding how the service functions, very soon. Xbox Live Gold members will also be receiving exclusive early access to the service before it’s officially rolled out, so be sure to stay subscribed if you want to test this out as soon as possible.
The Xbox Game Pass Service launches on Xbox One later this Spring.
