Gamescom has been the bringing of some pretty big reveals this year, especially for all of you RTS fans out there. During Microsoft’s Age of Empires live show, which took place at Gamescom 2017, the company announced that Age of Empires IV is on the way! This announcement took many fans of the franchise by surprise, as Age of Empires III released back in 2005, well over ten years ago!

Age of Empires IV will be arriving on Windows 10 and is currently being developed by Relic Entertainment, the current developer of Homeworld and Warhammer 40,0000, so you can already bet that this long awaited Age of Empires sequel is in the right hands. While not much more information was revealed regarding the title, Microsoft has informed players to stay tuned for more information regarding the title by keeping an eye out on the game’s official website.

While this announcement did take a lot by surprise, I think it’s a pretty safe bet to assume that something was in the works around the time Age of Empires: Definitive Edition was revealed during E3 only a few months ago. Speaking of which, both a Definitive Edition for Age of Empires II, and Age of Empires III are also soon to arrive, on October 19th. Hopefully these Edition’s will tide players over at least until we receive launch information regarding Age of Empires IV.

If you haven’t done so yet, I’d definitely recommend checking out the Announcement Trailer below, it’s sure to get those hype-juices flowing!
