We learned during E3 2016 that several Star Wars title are in development, like, a lot of them. With Battlefront 1 for the most part being an “okay”, title, yet leaving a bad taste in many players mouths; many fans of the franchise have been wondering if EA will continue the Battlefront series after the lackluster 2015 Battlefront title – it turns out EA is going full-steam-ahead!
During a recent EA conference call, the CFRO, Blake Jorgensen, confirmed that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 would be released one year from now. While EA has confirmed in the past that future Battlefront titles are definitely still in the works, many were worried after the release of 2015’s Battlefront, that EA may have ceased plans/production on those titles, to focus more on the other Star Wars projects that the company has in the works. It’s a bit too far off to be talking about Battlefront 2’s release, however many are speculating that it is quite likely that we’ll see the game release sometime during Fall of 2017, releasing alongside Star Wars: Episode 8.
Blake Jorgensen also mentioned during the conference call that EA and Dice are going to greater lengths this time around to make sure the game is “deep and engaging” for the players. Many fans felt the 2015 Battlefront was a bit to limiting; but EA and DICE hope to change that with 2017’s Battlefront release. While the exact sort of content Battlefront 2 will contain is still anybody’s guess, many have speculated that content from The Force Awakens, is likely to be present within the title.
It will be interesting to see how Battlefront 2 will turn out. It’s very likely the 2015 release lost many fans to the franchise, so hopefully EA and DICE will be able to redeem themselves and win those fans back with their run-back.
