If you stayed up late last night, you probably heard the sad news that Nintendo has announced they will be closing down Club Nintendo September of this year and will be launching a new program. The Club has been around for over 6 years, seems like such a short time, it’s sad to see it go so soon. The Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing stated
“We thank all Club Nintendo members for their dedication to Nintendo games and their ongoing love for our systems and characters, We want to make this time of transition as easy as possible for our loyal Club Nintendo members, so we are going to add dozens of new rewards and downloadable games to help members clear out their Coin balances.”
Before the service comes to an end, Nintendo will be offering several new physical rewards starting in February. Flipnote Studio 3D will also be available for free until June 30th for all members, also available next month. Create your account to be eligible for these awards soon, as you will be unable to create a new account after March 31st! Nintendo’s new loyalty program has been reported to be announced later this year (more than likely E3) but I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
