Earlier this year, Nintendo and Square Enix revealed that both Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII would be receiving 3DS ports, which were slated to arrive sometime during late 2016. While Dragon Quest VII was shown off and touched upon during Nintendo’s 3DS focused Direct presentation which took place this week, we can’t really say the same about Dragon Quest VIII.
During the presentation, Nintendo confirmed that Dragon Quest VIII would be arriving in 2017, ultimately delaying the game from it’s initial late 2016 release window. It’s not all that big of a deal, as fans of the series will still have Dragon Quest VII to play and finish this year, as the title is still on the way for release in a few weeks.
Square Enix has quite a large lineup at the Tokyo Game Show this year, and along with that, the company will be showcasing more Dragon Quest VII, VIII, and X, so expect to hear more details on all of those titles in the coming weeks.
Dragon Quest VII releases on the Nintendo 3DS on September 16th.
