Since our first ever glance at Hideo Kojima’s brand new IP, “Death Stranding” at E3 2016, the reveal left us hype enough to be excited to know what exactly he has in store, yet at the same time, confused enough for us to begin wondering what exactly we’re even excited for. While since then, we still haven’t received any details regarding the game, Kojima recently took the stage at Sony’s TGS 2016 Media Briefing; to discuss a tad bit more about the title, and exactly the type of experience he’s aiming for, with it.
According to Kojima, Death Stranding is set to be an action game of sorts, with open world elements. He’s aiming for the game to provide players with more freedom, yet at the same time, the ability for the players to explore story elements which are setup within the title. Kojima also revealed that the title would contain some sort of online-play presence, but did not really go into much detail regarding how it would work.
Death Stranding is set to be have various action and combat elements, but at the same time, containing some sort of connection between you, and the players you’ll be fighting against. A bit confusing, right? Kojima stated “I’m aiming for a new type of action,” and from the sounds of it, he’s doing just that.
In closing, he revealed that Kojima Productions now has it’s own office, and Death Stranding now has a solid game engine, up and running. While full development seems to just now be getting started for the title, it’s quite likely we won’t see much and or hear anything regarding the title for quite sometime. I suppose we’ll do what gamer’s do best, and wait patiently.
