After weeks of speculation and rumors regarding a potential Marvel vs Capcom 4 announcement taking place at Sony’s PlayStation Experience 2016 event; fans were both pleasantly surprised, as well as shocked as to what exactly Capcom had up their sleeves this entire time.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is the latest entry within the Marvel vs Capcom franchise, and is currently shaping up to be a bit different than Marvel vs Capcom 3. While many still remain positive that this title serves as a sort of reboot for the Marvel vs Capcom franchise; one this is definitely certain, and that’s that Capcom is going back to their fighting game roots for this title.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite features 2v2 battles, unlike the 3v3 battles which were present within the dearly loved Marvel vs Capcom 2 and 3 titles. 2v2 battles were however, how the series originally started out back in the original Marvel vs Capcom title.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite will also feature Infinity Gems, which are powerful stones that exist within the Marvel Universe. These gems will be used in game to act as a sort of power booster, which will help your team achieve a specific ability depending on which gem you choose to use. This isn’t the first time power gems were used within a Capcom fighting game either. Infinity Gems were also present in a another classic Marvel & Capcom crossover title, which was Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is currently slated to arrive sometime within 2017; however in the meantime, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has made it’s return via a PlayStation 4 port, currently available to purchase now on the PlayStation 4. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 will also be arriving on Xbox One and Steam during Spring of 2017.
