Towards the beginning of this year, we reported that Capcom currently has plans to release Resident Evil, 4, 5 and 6 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as ports; before the end of the year. With 6 having already been ported to both consoles, 5 is up next, as the company is releasing the ports backwards.
The wait for 5 isn’t much longer, as Capcom has officially announced that Resident Evil 5 will be arriving on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 28th.
The port of the title onto the next-gen hardware will be a slight upgrade from the originals, with 1080p and a higher frame rate being present. The ports will all include all content for the title, DLC and all, including what was once PC exclusive content. The port will also include a new special mode entitled “Mercenaries Unlimited”
Many fans of the Resident Evil franchise are speculating the announcement of Resident Evil 7 at this years E3 which will be taking place in just a few weeks. Odds are we’ll hear details about a 7th, as well as more details regarding the ports for 5 and 4, during the expo.
