If you are a close follower of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, odds are you already know about the sequel which was exclusively released in Japan, to Shin Megami Tensei 4, entitled, “Shin Megami Tensei 4: Final“. With most titles that release in Japan, it’s always a bit unknown as to whether or not the title will eventually see a western release or not, however, Atlus has announced that western fans will be able to own the sequel as well.

Under a slightly different title, Atlus has recently announced that this Summer, Shin Megami Tensei 4: Apocalypse, will be arriving on the Nintendo 3DS in the US. While the events of the original Shin Megami Tensei 4, and Apocalypse, may be a bit convoluted, you will not be required to have played the original “4” to understand the story which is taking place in “Apocalypse.”

The story of Shin Megami Tensei 4: Apocalypse, revolved around the events of where humans pawns are “being shuffled across a chessboard by the higher deities. One lone Hunter, the game’s protagonist, meets an early demise and through a pact with a lesser god, is brought back to life in exchange for his pledge of servitude. From there, the protagonist allies with other Hunters in the ruins of post-apocalyptic Tokyo beginning a plot that crosses over with the events of the original Shin Megami Tensei IV.”

Atlus has also released an official announcement trailer for the game, which you can checkout below.
