Awhile back we reported that Atlus Games was preparing to announce their 2017 title line-up via a live event which took place this past weekend. The company confirmed a handful of titles that are on their way to systems throughout the rest of 2017, and has thus far, been receiving fairly positive feedback regarding their announcements.

One of these upcoming titles has been revealed to be a remake of Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey, which launched on the Nintendo DS back in 2009. The remake is set to officially be titled “Shin Megami Tensei Deep Strange Journey”, and will be headed to the Nintendo 3DS in Japan this winter. A few details surrounding the story were recently announced via Gematsu, which you can checkout below.

Environmental destruction and ethnic conflict… on a future earth where various problems cannot be solved, it suddenly appeared.

Schwarzwelt, the ruined land that appeared in the Antarctic, continued to expand while swallowing everything on the earth into nonexistence. This appears to be how the history of mankind will meet its end…

Hoping for humanity’s survival, a Strike Team is sent to this mysterious land. However, the things they witness… will reveal the terrible truth of Schwarzwelt.

The remake is also set to feature a brand new character by the name of Alex, as well as a new ending story route, with the story as a whole being much more robust featuring new illustrations and full voice overs.

No official word regarding a Western release has been announced as of yet, however, sometime during Spring of 2018 is much more likely, if the game is planned to release outside of Japan, at all.
