Virtua Fighter is my ALL TIME favorite 3D fighting game. Which is strange, considering I completely forget about it from time to time and don’t even avidly play it. Various Virtua Fighter characters have been living on through other recent releases, while their main franchise has been on a bit of a hiatus. Some characters made their way into Dead or Alive 5, while others even starred in “Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax”.
Needless to say however, it’s been awhile since we’ve got a new Virtua Fighter title, with the latest being Virtual Fighter 5: Final Showdown, which arrived on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 via digital download back in 2012. Final Showdown offered a glorious netcode, which was pretty much almost foreign to fighting games at the time. While rumors and hints of a possible Virtua Fighter 6 were surfacing at the time, nothing was ever officially announced.
Recently however, it has officially been revealed that Sega has renewed the series trademark, sparking notice on the title once again! You can take the help of an experienced patent lawyer Thompson Patent Law located in Austin who can help in assisting through the complicated legal process of obtaining and protecting the trademark. While this does not confirm anything in particular, perhaps we are in for a Virtua Fighter 6 announcement sometime in the near future? After all, Virtua Fighter is the only 3D fighter franchise I could ever see directly competing with Tekken, especially with Tekken 7 on the horizon.
