Animal Crossing: New Horizons has quickly become one of the main games keeping us all occupied and connected during this pandemic, and with seasonal events and updates beginning to frequently make their way into the game, it’s no surprise that we’ll all be pouring another handful of hours into the game once again.
The latest update is a “Wave 2” or “Part 2” Summer update, adding onto last months update which finally brought diving/swimming into the game, along with some new items, characters, and features. This time around, the latest update is set to bring a weekend Fireworks event! This event was also present in the Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf games, and features fireworks every Sunday of August! You’ll be able to purchase special firework items from Redd’s booth during the event hours, and enjoy a nice evening of fireworks display. A new feature has been added to the fireworks event in New Horizons however, as players will able to have their pattern designs displayed within the fireworks (that is if you have any pattern room left).
In addition to the Fireworks festival, two new additional features will also be arriving to the game alongside the update. One of which is the return of the “Dream” feature, where players will be able to visit online saves of other islands from all over the world, while also being able to upload their own town online for other players to checkout. In addition to this, Nintendo will now be providing a service which will allow users to backup their towns through this feature in case of save corruption, along with a restoration option to restore your town onto another Switch. We’ve known a backup feature of sorts has been in the works for the game for quite sometime, so it’s nice to finally see it come to fruition.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer “Wave 2” update releases this week on July 30th!
