Bayonetta 2 is one of the Wii U’s most successful titles. Releasing back in 2014, the title brought in brand new die-hard fans of the franchise as the sequel was exclusive to the Wii U, as well as the slightly remastered original, packaged alongside with the game.

Bayonetta 2 was so successful in fact, it’s getting pretty hard to find the game at retailers now, it’s probably the Wii U’s first rareĀ piece of software.

As a sort of solution, Nintendo has announced that Bayonetta 2 will be released as a standalone title, later in Feburary, removing the bonus disc that contained the first Bayonetta title. It’s really not that bad if you think about it, especially considering the title will be retailing for $29.99. You can probably just pickup the first game for around the same price, perhaps even cheaper, on the Wii U eShop.

Bayonetta is also making her way into Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS during February, so this announcement almost seems as if it were planned for quite awhile. Clever Nintendo, oh so clever.
