It’s been a very wild several months for Blizzard entertainment, from the many scandals and allegations the company has been facing for the past year or so, to the recent acquisition by Microsoft; and even more recently, the unveiling of the brand new expansion for the World of WarCraft franchise – Dragonflight. Needless to say, the company has had a lot going on recently, and things are picking up yet again with their most recent reveal of their debut Warcraft title which is headed to mobile devices.
WarCraft: Arclight Rumble is almost exactly what you would expect from a mobile Warcraft title. At it’s core, it’s a tower defense game, however; the developers wanted to make it extremely clear that it’s being developed as of more of a tower “offense” game. You choose one of several Warcraft “Leaders” each game and they all duke it out on a wide array of maps against the enemy forces with the goal to take out the enemies defensive structures. How is this done? Well your specific leader also spawns their own “minions” which sort of act as your creep, essentially dealing damage to enemy structures and pushing their way across the map. Your select leader is also able to help in battle, as they all have their own unique abilities and cooldowns that will help turn the tide of battle – each geared towards a different sort of playstyle.
Arclight Rumble is set to offer various different modes for it’s players, which may be something that will heavily set itself apart from the already very over-saturated market of Tower Defense games on mobile. PvE, PvP, Co-op PvE and PvP, raids, dungeons, and more will eventually be making their way into the game – with more details on each mode to be shared overtime.
WarCraft: Arclight Rumble is only the first of a few mobile games that are said to be in the works over at Blizzard Entertainment. The ability to opt-into early access for the game is already available over on the Google Play Store, so make sure to register if this game sparks your interest at all.
