Activision’s quarterly earnings call took place earlier today, and with this the company has shed some light on their plans regarding the future of Destiny, and what is to come down the line.
Surprisingly, Activision has revealed that we will be seeing a Major expansion for the title release this year, with a full fledged sequel next year.
“Activision Publishing, along with its partners at Bungie, expects to bring a large new expansion to Destiny in 2016 and to release a full game sequel in 2017”
Activision also stated that 25 million players have logged more than 3 billion hours into Destiny. Earlier last month, rumors surfaced that Destiny’s sequel was in fact delayed, and pushed into 2017. Once these reports began to hit the web, a lot of the Destiny fan base lost a bit of hope in terms of the game being lively enough to keep playing throughout the duration of 2016.
Following this announcement, Bungie took to the web earlier today and confirmed that the next Destiny expansion will feature a light level boost, so of course this means tons of new gear and items will be featured in this update.
I’m personally extremely stoked for more Destiny! And to hear that we WILL be receiving a sequel is even more exciting. What are you hoping Activision and Bungie has in store for the future of Destiny? Let us know on Twitter @EXP4ALL
