You know a MMO is running strong and sturdy when a new expansion is announced; and it looks like Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is doing just that! This weekend over at the Final Fantasy Fanfest, taking place in Las Vegas Nevada; game director Naoki Yoshida announced that in patch 3.0 the game would be receiving it’s first ever expansion, Heavensward, which is expected to release Spring of 2015! The expansion, which will be the main focal point of the patch 3.0 update, will raise the level cap to 60, and offer brand new Primals, dungeons, raids, and jobs for players to face and play.
The expansion takes focus around the Dragonsong War, which is a thousand-year conflict that has been happening between Ishgaurd and Dravania. Players will be put into the heat of battle, and will play their own role within ending the war.
It was also revealed that the game will be receiving a brand new race, despite the rumored Viangaa, being declined. It was also announced, that players will be able to build their own airships, to explore and other brand new large areas within the game.
Square Enix has stated that they will reveal more information regarding the expansion at the London Fan Festival, which will be taking place on October 25th.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
