Halo Infinite was the reveal that kicked off Microsoft’s E3 2018 Press Conference which took place a few months back. And while the visuals of the game blew us all away, we ultimately found out shortly after the conference that the game was still much further off than we would all hope; which ultimately lead many to feel a bit unsure about where exactly 343 Industries were planning to take things with the current story of Halo.
Well, this week we finally received a bit of clarification as far as the story direction for the game via 343’s own Jeff Easterling, who in which revealed information during a Mixer stream. Easterling firmly confirmed that when it comes to Halo Infinite, “It’s Halo 6.” That short statement alone is enough to trigger a sigh of relief in many fans of the franchise, as the Infinite reveal left many of us unsure about the current direction of the franchise. Easterling also followed up by stating “Don’t think of it as a weird prequel kind of thing. It’s the next story. It’s the next chapter in what is going on.”
It’s nice to know that we’ll be able to follow-up on the events of Halo 5: Guardians, while also receiving a game which will go back to focusing on Master Chief, rather than majority of the game being a 50/50 split between two different characters (Halo 5.)
While we still have received no sort of information regarding when we might see an official release of the game, I think it’s safe to say that sometime during Holiday 2019 at the earliest is likely, with a Spring 2020 release being even more possible considering the game is being built with a new engine, as well as with Microsoft apparently having a brand new Xbox in development; can someone say “launch title?” Let’s hope we don’t have to wait that long, but if we in fact do, hopefully 343 is a bit more apparent with us regarding the development process of the game. We’re all intrigued over here!
