Aside from games like Civilization and StarCraft 2, the RTS genre is one of which that doesn’t get all that much love these days, especially with many being quite difficult for newcomers to pickup and enjoy.
Fortunately, some developers, like those at 343, continue to have interest in the genre and are now looking to breathe more life back into it – with Halo Wars 2, that is. For fans who have been awaiting the highly anticipated sequel, you’ll be happy to know that you won’t have to wait much longer as the game has been announced to have officially gone gold, meaning the game is fully finished with retail copies to be published soon.
Dan Ayoub, Studio head of 343 Industries confirmed the new via twitter recently, stating the following:
At least we can now rest assured that their likely won’t be any delays for the title headed our way. Halo Wars 2 is set to launch on February 21st for both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. If you can’t wait roughly amount to get in on the action, good news; an open beta for the game on both Windows 10 PC and Xbox One is set to take place starting January 20th, which will last 10 days. Need an even longer fix? If you pre-order the Ultimate Edition version of Halo Wars 2, you’ll receive Halo Wars: Definitive Edition on Xbox One, which is a remaster of the first Halo Wars title. Regardless of that, whichever route you decide to take, Microsoft and 343 have you covered as the official wait to February 21st begins.
