    Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens announced, trailer released

    Warner Bros. entertainment and TT games have officially announced the speculated Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, set to drop for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC on June 28th, 2016.

    Relatively unknown UK based developer TT games reveals the title features a new combat mechanic and building mechanic, although details remain in short supply. According to reports, the game takes place slightly before the film version of The Force Awakens, and will serve to add background and depth to the new characters in the franchise as well as flush out the story of what has been going on in everyone’s favorite galaxy far, far away since ROTJ.

    Developer TT games’ announcement, although vague, certainly teases some promising ideas;

    Gamers will be able to engage in intense new Blaster Battles for the first time, utilizing surrounding environments to drive back the First Order,” the publisher said. “Fans can also experience the thrill of high-speed flight gameplay through arena-based battles and dogfights in space, while utilizing a multitude of vehicles along the way, including the legendary Millennium Falcon.

    With the success of the film, and the already popular nature of anything Star Wars related, Lego Star Wars: TFA promises to be one the biggest summer releases this year, certainly for the younger audience, and especially because it has been confirmed that many of the new characters and fan-favorites, including Rey, Finn, Han Solo, and Captain Phasma will be playable.

    Despite the fact that I am 25 years old, I have always found Warner Bros.’ Lego titles to be fun, engaging, and worthwhile, despite their obviously younger target audience. There is tons of potential, if done right, for this game to be massively popular with kids and Star Wars fans alike, while us hardcore fans patiently await the rumored Visceral Games Star Wars title. If the trailer is any indication, this could be one of the revelations of the summer.
