Club Nintendo is making a comeback as we slowly make our way into Spring this March…well sort of.
During Nintendo’s financial results briefing that took place earlier this week, president of the company, Tatsumi Kimishima, announced that the successor to Club Nintendo, “My Nintendo”, will be officially launching in the U.S as well as 38 other countries sometime this coming March.
The upcoming My Nintendo service will have a new sort of currency systems containing Platinum and Gold Points. Your Platinum Points will be able to be redeemed for physical and digital rewards, while Gold Points will be able to be redeemed for coupons and other items we have yet to learn about. My Nintendo is also set to include some sort of cloud save option, sometime later down the line.
Along with the launch of My Nintendo, Nintendo has also announced that their upcoming Mii focused social mobile title, Miitomo, is also currently scheduled to release this March. Pre-registration for Miitomo opens up on February 17th. Those who do pre-register will receive Platinum Points once My Nintendo launches.
We are still a bit scarce on the details, but odds are we’ll be filled in by Nintendo a bit more in the coming weeks. We are almost overdue for a Nintendo Direct, so we may just see one pop up sometime before the end of the month.
