In a recent tweet from the official Nintendo of America Twitter earlier today, the company has officially unveiled some of their plans for this years E3, and as expected, it seems they will be continuing their new trend that they have been following in recent years. Ever since the year after the Wii U launch, Nintendo has stepped away from hosting traditional E3 Press Conferences, and has since held their own live-stream events, which usually take place on the same Tuesday morning during E3 where they generally held their Press Conferences in the past.
While many Nintendo fans assumed Nintendo would once again take to the stage at E3 once again this year considering the company just launched a brand new console, that was denied not too long ago as the President of Nintendo confirmed that the company would not be holding a E3 2017 Press Conference.

Nintendo has a few things in store for this years E3, and while we’ve received very little detail, we at least know some of the company’s plans for this years show. To kick things off, on June 13th (Tuesday), at 9am PT/12pmET the company will be holding a Nintendo Spotlight live-stream over at e3.Nintendo.com the presentation is said to give us a “look at Nintendo Switch games for 2017, including Super Mario Odyssey.”
Immediately following the Spotlight Presentation, Nintendo will then kick off the Nintendo TreeHouse Live @ E3 2017 event, which is something the company has done throughout the past few years. The TreeHouse event will give us gameplay for upcoming titles on both Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS.
Lastly, the company will be hosting some of their own tournaments at the event, with both the Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational as well as the 2017 ARMS Open Invitational. Both events will be live from the official Nintendo E3 Booth.
As expected, Nintendo is definitely ready to make a splash at this years E3, but it only leads us to wonder how much “new” will exactly be seeing from the company in terms of games and announcements. Many of the titles that are set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch specifically in 2017 are either re-releases of titles which have launched in the past on other platforms, or are games that we’ve known about since the Switch was officially announced. We know Super Mario Odyssey will be a HUGE focus for the company during E3, and will be one of the first E3’s in awhile where Mario will return to center stage, as the main focus for Nintendo. It’s quite exciting, really. Considering the Nintendo E3 2017 Spotlight Presentation seems to be directed at Switch content exclusively, it is quite likely that the company has a slew of titles and announcement ready to reveal, but I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see!
E3 2017 takes place from June 12th-15th at the Los Angeles Convention center.
