Super Mario Odyssey was arguably Nintendo biggest title reveal during the Nintendo Switch Presentation which took place last week. With a current release schedule of Holiday 2017, one might think that the game may still be in it’s middle to late stages of development, but recent reports confirm the title may be a bit more far-along than what many have assumed.
According to the game’s producer, Yoshiaki Koizumi, Super Mario Odyssey is “considerably” finished, so it’s safe to assume that the developers are using the time now to further polish the game, to ensure it has as smooth of a launch as possible.
It does seem as if Nintendo is in fact treating Super Mario Odyssey as an sandbox title, as stages will be extra-intractable, so expect to spend lots more time exploring a stage and messing around, rather than rushing to reach the objective which is something much more common within more recent Mario titles.
Super Mario Odyssey is set to launch for the Nintendo Switch this Holiday 2017.
