Square Enix decided to hold their first ever press conference at E3 this year and it was well worth it.  They announced numerous new titles to their long running series as well as providing new trailers and updates to previously announced projects such as Kingdom Hearts III (which looks amazing and I could hardly stop myself from fangirling all over it).

Just Cause 3:

I’ve only played a little bit of the previous Just Cause games, and from what they said about it and the game play shown, it seems like they’re just making everything as ridiculous as possible, which means it will be awesome.  More explosions, more grappling hooks, more sending shit flying into the air, it basically looks like Michael Bay produced this game (luckily he didn’t).

Nier New Project

Square Enix also announced a sequel to Nier, which to be honest I don’t know a lot about, which is being produced in cooperation with Platinum Games (who seems to have their hands in every game available at this E3) but didn’t provide much in the way of details as to what the game will include, aside from providing some art samples which looks very cool.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

While announced a while back they showed more trailers and gameplay of the sequel to the 2013 Tomb Raider.  From the descriptions of the game and the trailers it seems like they will be going back a more exploration emphasized game style and will reduce the amount of combat and action.  They additionally talked about some new features the game will have, an example being snow accumulation on Lara Croft’s clothing when in a blizzard, I’m excited since I enjoyed the last one a lot.

Lara Croft: Go

A new Tomb Raider mobile game, I’m not exactly sure how to feel about this one since there’s not a lot of details and I’m not super big into mobile gaming.

Reannounced the FFVII Remake

I wrote a post about this earlier, but Square Enix once again confirmed that a Final Fantasy VII remake is in the works and showed the trailer again.

FFVII to IOS and PS4

As mentioned earlier, Square Enix will port the original version of Final Fantasy VII to IOS and PS4 as well.

Kingdom Hearts Unchained (Chi) for IOS

This one felt like another attempt to troll the viewers (i.e. previewing this before Kingdom Hearts III) Previously only available in Japan, Kingdom Hearts Unchained will be released in the US on IOS.

Kingdom Hearts III

SE showed a new trailer with more gameplay and it looks amazing.  The trailer begins with a young Xehanort and Eraqus playing pseudo-chess talking about the “Lost Masters” which will presumably become a “key” (I’m still funny) part of the plot in this game, and then proceeded to show that glorious gameplay footage.  The clips show Sora in his different Drive Forms and using numerous over the top powers and finishing moves.

World of Final Fantasy

This was also shown at the Sony conference and appears to be an attempt to lure in younger people who may be unfamiliar with the Final Fantasy franchise and has a more chibi art style.

The baldest assassin ever returns as the trailer shows Agent 47 running through a snowy forest.  The description states that the freedom to choose your method of assassination will be a key aspect of the gameplay.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness

Unfortunately I’ve never played a game from the series, so I can’t really comment on this announcement too much, but the combat system looks very interesting.

Deus EX: Mankind Divided

A sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, it once again stars Adam Jensen in a world where Augmented Humans have been vilified by normal humans causing fear and resentment to arise eventually leading to conflict.
