Nintendo Switch Will Reportedly Play GameCube Games.

Nintendo apparently has a lot in store for fans of the Nintendo GameCube when it comes to the Nintendo Switch. One thing many Wii U owners have noticed was the lack of GameCube titles on the Virtual Console. While GameCube titles were never exactly confirmed to be arriving on the Wii U, many thought it to be a natural evolution from the Wii Virtual console, however, Nintendo never jumped on the opportunity.

Recent reports from Eurogamer however, claim that Nintendo will be introducing GameCube Virtual Console titles for the first time ever, on their upcoming next-gen platform – the Nintendo Switch. The GC games that are reported to be ready for release on the Virtual Console, right off that bat, are; Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi’s Mansion, and Animal Crossing: Population Growing.

This is arguably the best move Nintendo has made in a long while with the Virtual Console platform, and will definitely get their digital sales moving. With the supposed lineup which has been listed above, sounding very likely to be made available immediately; Nintendo had better prepare those servers, because the Virtual Console flood will definitely be imminent once the Switch launches.

For fans worried about how they’ll go about playing their favorite GC titles on the Nintendo Switch, Eurogamer has also reported that Nintendo plans to add support for the Wii U’s GameCube controller adapter, however they are apparently not fully committed to the operation as of yet.

The Nintendo Switch is currently set to arrive sometime during March of 2017, with a special hands-on event taking place in New York on January 13th.
