Slowly but surely, most companies we’ve come to expect to hold E3 Press Conferences every year, are finally beginning to transition into a much more, convenient and flexible option as far as revealing their upcoming games are concerned. Yep, I’m talking about Live E3 presentations, something Nintendo started doing several years ago after the Nintendo Wii U saw it’s launch. Since 2012, the company never returned to the traditional E3 Press Conference format, and now it seems other companies are beginning to follow suit.
Square Enix has revealed that this year, instead of hosting an actual physical E3 Press conference, that they will instead be hosting their own live-stream showcase, where they will then reveal and announce upcoming titles and other news. The company has announced via their website that the showcase will begin on Monday, June 11th at 10:00amPST/1:00pmEST and will also be eligible to watch on Twitter, Facebook, Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer. The showcase will be pre-recorded, so expect to be able to access the re-play immediately upon it’s debut.
While thus far, Square Enix has been a bit quiet as far as what they have in store for E3; we know for certain that Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Dragon Quest XI, and Octopath Traveler, are all most definitely going to be touched on during the showcase. While I’m sure many are also crossing their fingers for a Kingdom Hearts III release date, as well as more information on the Final Fantasy VII Remake, odds are we’re more likely to get information on one of those titles over the other. It’s also important to note that Square Enix has also recently stated that they will be continuing DLC support for Final Fantasy XV through 2019 – so expect to hear some details regarding the next DLC Episode for the game, during the presentation.
All in all, it will be an exciting showcase that I’m most definitely looking forward to! June 11th cannot come soon enough!
