It seems like Yoshi is finally here to stay! Before the release of Yoshi’s Woolly World on the Nintendo Wii U, console Yoshi entries were pretty much idle for two whole generations, with the latest console Yoshi entry being Yoshi Story for the Nintendo 64. Since the release of Woolly World, however, Yoshi has been getting a lot more love lately, and even received a 3DS port of his Wii U adventure!
Now, with the Nintendo Switch out and doing overwhelmingly well, Nintendo is readying up yet another console Yoshi title which will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch in 2018. A trailer for the game was revealed during the company’s E3 2017 Spotlight Presentation on Tuesday; and I must say, it’s really one of the cutest things I’ve seen in awhile. The art-style of Yoshi on the Nintendo Switch is much different than the “yarn” style which was present in Yoshi’s Woolly World. It seems this time around, Nintendo is going with a cardboard/paper-cut-out level design for the upcoming Yoshi title, ultimately putting yet another unique spin the franchises art-style. The game itself is also being developed whilst utilizing the Unreal Engine 4, so it really sounds like Nintendo is putting in the work to make this title one of the most visually-pleasing Yoshi titles to date, and so far it’s looking to be just that!
Yoshi heads on a new adventure in this new action platforming game coming to Nintendo Switch. Explore a great big world decorated like a miniature diorama, look for items throughout the stages and team up with a friend in a new art style for the franchise. Coming 2018!
I am thrilled to be receiving yet another Yoshi entry! Yoshi is by far one of my all-time favorite franchises from Nintendo, and has been ever since Yoshi Story on the Nintendo 64. With that said, this will be an instant-buy for me, and likely another Yoshi title that I will fall deeply in love with.
