Yoshi’s Woolly World was a cute and beautiful game that left a good taste in my mouth and ultimately a stronger craving for more Yoshi games. Hell, it was the first standalone Yoshi title for quite awhile which made the game even more amazing!
Yoshi for the Nintendo Switch was originally announced back during E3 2017 with “Yoshi for Nintendo Switch” being it’s tentative title. Since then, we’ve only seen the game one other time which was during one of the earlier Nintendo Directs of this year – which showcased the game having the same title and with a 2018 release window.
During Nintendo’s E3 2018 Video Presentation that took place yesterday however, Yoshi for the Nintendo Switch was notably absent, a title many of us were certain that would make an appearance. Shortly after the Nintendo E3 Presentation, Switch owners noticed that the release window listing for the game on the Nintendo eShop was changed to “2019” which lead most of us to assume the game had been delayed. Even more recently however, Polygon spoke to President Reggie Fils-Aime, current President of Nintendo America – as he stated that Yoshi for Nintendo Switch “continues to be in development making great progress.”
While this doesn’t exactly confirm the titles delay, it is fairly safe to say that the game more than likely will not be arriving this year – and that we should expect to have our hands on it sometime during the 2nd quarter of 2019.
Yoshi for the Nintendo Switch is currently being developed in tandem with “Good-Feel,” the same team behind Yoshi’s Woolly World.
