No Man’s Sky is a difficult game to review because it is different for everyone who plays it. Every player starts on a random procedurally generated planet with little guidance beyond ‘fix your broken ship’. While this can be extremely easy for some it can be extremely difficult for others and the almost complete lack of tutorial only makes it more aggravating. In my case I started on a very cold planet and had to constantly worry about freezing, but resources were plentiful. The game’s focus is on exploration and survival, which isn’t difficult when you learn to manage resources.…

All good things come to an end. It was bound to happen eventually, although in an odd twist Pokémon Go hasn’t fallen but Nintendo has. It seems after a couple weeks of unprecedented financial growth Nintendo burst the bubble themselves and announced they don’t actually own the rights to Pokémon Go. Subsequently Nintendo’s stock immediately plummeted 18 points, the max allowed in a single day for any company. A bad sign for Nintendo in the coming days, like an ironic Cinderella story going from rags, to riches and back to rags in the span of two weeks. It is odd…

Well hello ladies, have you ever wondered why so many games seem to be geared specifically towards males? A new Kickstarter named Sentimental Trickster, an English yaoi visual novel, is here to even the odds. So fangirls (and guys into that sorta thing) rejoice and let the sexy man on man shipping commence. With at least a dozen endings there is an incredible number of possible paths to take and no telling who you may end up with… that’s if you don’t end up alone… not that I would know… As of now there are four possible suitors, the old-hot…

Just a week ago I was sure Nintendo was on the verge of going belly up from years of subpar sequels and shoddy systems. If anything I assumed the upcoming Zelda Breath of the Wild would save them. However, it seems it isn’t even necessary anymore and Nintendo’s attempt to use apps has paid off big, ironically after years of bashing app games as a fad. Unlike its first real attempt Miitomo which has already been mostly forgotten. In only a week Pokémon Go has become one of the biggest sensations around, nearly overcoming Tinder, Facebook and Twitter. While Nintendo…

A lot of rumors have been going around for some time on Nintendo’s upcoming fabled console codenamed the NX. Since Nintendo was basically a no-show at E3 this year the rumors have only become more inventive as fans try to figure out what Nintendo is planning. It’s no secret that Nintendo is hurting, between smartphones killing the handheld market and the Wii U flop Nintendo needs a big win. Recently Nintendo has attempted to spread into new fields, like movies and app games, but it seems too little too late since every other developer has been doing that for ages.…

I was hoping to do my review on Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma, the final and brutal ending to a magnificent trilogy. More of a cult hit than commercial, Zero Time Dilemma has been highly anticipated by many fans. However it seems I won’t be able to for at least a few more days. Why you may wonder? The game wasn’t delayed as previously indicated, just the bonus watch … although with GameStop it’s about 50/50 if it will come at all. No, I already received my copy days ago and was so hyped to play I immediately dropped everything…

Another month closer to October and another free bunch of games for PSN Gold members, including a nice bonus not part of the monthly freebies. On PS4 we start with Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell, the odd and frankly disappointing follow up to Saints Row 4. More of a large DLC than an actual game, it combines the quirky and crazy super powers from Saints Row 4 and adds a religious twist. While worth playing it still falls far short of previous Saints Row games and fans can only hope it’s not cannon. There is also no personalized characters…

Fans of System Shock are having a field day today. Rumors have been going around since E3 about a huge Bioshock announcement. Well it seems the rumors weren’t about Bioshock but its spiritual prequel System Shock. A game that almost single handedly shaped the current action role-playing genre and storytelling, System Shock is a staple in classic video games. Not only is the game coming back but it is getting a complete overhaul from the ground up using Unity. Fans who thought the game was creepy and dark before haven’t seen anything yet. While a good amount of work on…

Most gamers these days aren’t old enough to remember but there was a time the US had plenty of its own video games. We didn’t rely on Japan for almost all our gaming needs, before Nintendo rooted itself into the US gaming market. Back when consoles were oddly shaped boxes with multiple cords and less functionality than a simple fitbit. One of the most well-known of the time was a wooden panel console named the Atari 2600. Seemingly unstoppable, people quickly realized the random blinking lights and pixels big enough to count were kind of crap. It didn’t help that…
