Overwatch is an excitingly addictive and colorful first person shooter that follows in the footsteps of games like Team Fortress 2. An extraordinary revival to the FPS genre, Overwatch breaths life back into a genre that has labored under nearly identical games for years now. Ironically this release comes close to a very similar game, Battleborn. Another FPS that attempted to combine FPS and MOBA, Battleborn fell short while Overwatch has triumphed in nearly every way. Even Battleborn has sensed this and already dropped the price to try and keep up. Being released so close to one another and fundamentally…
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the final game in a series that has helped to define an entire generation of gamers. Uncharted 4 is great, maybe even best of the year. With almost seamless gameplay, beautiful graphics, an inventive plot and all around perfection on everything that defines the series. Uncharted 4 is an almost perfect end to the Uncharted series, something every reviewer and their mother has been screaming since its release. Of course it has its issues but they are entirely insignificant compared to the game as a whole. At this point the game would need to start…
Fallout 4: Far Harbor is the 3rd and final announced DLC for Fallout 4 but hopefully not the last. Featuring a new area or island off the coast of Maine, the player must go in search of a missing girl. However, in true Lovecraftian fashion, the island is not as it seems and many new threats await in the fog. While easily one of Bethesda’s largest DLC’s, comparable with the Shivering Isle pack in Oblivion, there just isn’t a lot to do in Far Harbor. So if exploring is your thing there is plenty of space to do that. The…
Oh dear god, not again! I don’t think I’m emotionally or physically ready to risk another Super Mario Bros. movie. I still wake up some nights in a cold sweat because of the terrifying images the 1993 movie has forever burned into my brain. Poor Bob Hoskins getting bent over the fence as… actually, never mind. Point being, it seems Nintendo is diversifying itself and expanding into the movie business. Something Nintendo has been doing a lot of lately, even branching out into the smartphone market with Miitomo and the upcoming Pokémon game. A spokesperson for Nintendo announced they were…
So I’ve been wrong before, in my defense not very often. Originally I dismissed both Battleborn and Overwatch as just more of the same. The same FPS style run and gun modern shooters like Halo and Call of Duty have already brutalized in the ass. Sure, they added new components to impress the PC crowd by stealing from League of Legends but it was only a matter of time. In the case of Battleborn, which could have copy/pasted the entire champion leveling system from League of Legends, I was still mostly right. While I’ll reserve criticism for the final review…
While the recent Ratchet and Clank 2016 game was an excellent retelling of the origin story, the recent movie was subpar at best. A remake of the original trilogy, both the game and movie follow the same story and are nearly identical… except that the game was actually good. To be fair the movie was a total disaster, it just doesn’t compare next to its video game counterpart. As far as movies based off games over the last couple decades go; it is probably one of the better ones in the bunch. Of course there isn’t much competition either, like…
The Xbox 360 is officially no more. Microsoft recently announced they will no longer be making any more of the older system in favor of the latest, Xbox One. They will continue to sell the 360 as long as supplies last… which in all honesty could be some time. Supposedly they will also continue to make and sell games for the 360 as supplies last. Although, for many Xbox fans this news doesn’t come as a very big shock since new games have been released less and less on the 360 the last few months. Many may consider this to…
The Division has only been out a little over a month now and it’s having all sorts of problems. I was kind of on the fence about getting this game after playing the beta. It looked good and promised an actual challenge for once. At the same time games that require constant internet and allow so much jumping in and out of other people’s games usually come with a lot of issues. I guess it’s a good thing I waited because it has plenty of problems. Across all platforms The Division is having every issue from graphics fails, missing codes,…
Between Dark Souls 3 and the new Ratchet and Clank gamers are kind of tied up this week. For everyone else there was the Doom open beta this weekend. Described as a return to the classic Doom in a perfect 1080 package. I kind of get the same fear in my gut as when Duke Nukem: Forever was near release. A great classic getting a current gen reboot sounds great but after so many years it may be better to leave it be. As everyone should know Duke Nukem: Forever was a terrible mess that probably destroyed the franchise. A…
Battleborn is like Borderlands but… but nothing really, for the most part Battleborn is basically Borderlands. Exact same developer, same game style, same nearly everything. Battleborn is Borderlands in nearly every way except it has a lot more characters and just isn’t as good. Oh, I guess you also have to have a constant internet connection as well. It’s like the developers at Gearbox took what they thought made Borderlands popular and mashed it together with arena fighting games, namely League of Legends. The problem is that it wasn’t just the mad run-and-gun gameplay that people loved about Borderlands. They…
