Fallout still has some life left in her apparently. For starters, Fallout 4s mod feature has been added to the Xbox One with the PS4 following in the next month hopefully. Ironically, it has also inspired a rash of theft with PC modders finding their work stolen and used on Xbox One without approval. So far Bethesda has assisted in removing the stolen mods but fans complain they aren’t doing much more. Some speculate the mod feature will be delayed on the PS4 now until a more permanent solution can be found. Bethesda has provided some instructions on how modders…
I don’t know what it is with arena style FPS games these days. It started with Battleborn, then Overwatch set the standard and now Bethesda is getting in on the action with Quake Champions. I especially loved when the speaker even said characters each had unique abilities because it’s basically a more gore filled version of Overwatch. As of now it sounds as if the game will only be on PC. It kind of makes sense though when you consider the ridiculously smooth graphics and unlocked framerate. It has been a long time since the original Quake and while the…
E3 is upon us again and the rumors are flying, not to mention everything else that is already confirmed. All the big dogs are giving presentations again, including Sony and Microsoft along with a couple newbies Bethesda and Kadokawa. Nintendo oddly enough seems to be bowing out of E3 this year almost entirely with no presentation and not even much in the way of a booth. While a lot of stuff is confirmed there is plenty of rumor, gossip or just wishful thinking going on as well. There will also be a lot of VR talk going on but not…
A unique kind of point and click/RPG hybrid, The Captain is an exciting and bizarre sci-fi adventure that will have players coming back for more. Paying respect to similar old school games like Monkey Island and classic sci-fi like Star Trek and Hitchhikers Guide, The Captain is a brilliant and hilarious lampoon of both. With an entire universe to explore who knows what might happen; everything from saving or dooming a planet to ‘accidently’ putting a guy through a meat grinder. With great lighting and a throwback to pixelated graphics The Captain is brimming with unique life rarely seen even…
Niche is one of those rare games that teaches while you play and it does it so well because you don’t realize you’re learning. Not that players will simply absorb biology lessons but it’s a good start. A combination of Tokyo Jungle and Spore, players must create their own species and survive in a harsh, unforgiving wilderness. With disease, predators, lack of food and basically everything else against you it’s not an easy ride. The only real way to overcome Niche is to evolve. Breeding to get specific genetic traits is an intriguing concept rarely used before and fun to…
Maybe complaining does work sometimes because the free games with PSN Plus have actually been getting better lately. The AAA games may have slowed to a trickle but at least we’re not just getting the indie game of the day anymore. Like last month, it wasn’t perfect but Tropico 5 and TTR: World Tour were worth playing. Tomorrow the June lineup comes out and it seems we’ve been upgraded from mediocre to average. On the PS4 there is NBA 2K16, last year’s basketball game which sums it up for the most part. Ironically I think I received 2K15 free as…
While one of the few mainstream manga I read anymore One Piece is easily one of my favorites, even if it did slip a little after the timeskip. When it comes to video games however One Piece has had an extremely rocky relationship. Rarely does a series try so hard to find its place, everything from fighting, to RPGs and basically copying Dynasty Warriors of all things. In defense of One Piece though, at least it makes sense when a single character takes down a small army alone. Not being a huge fan of Dynasty Warriors I was excited to…
For those with both a Vita and PlayStation Plus you should have picked up God of War: Ghost of Sparta for free. There is still time so do it if you haven’t. Well, the June free game lineup has been released and one of this month’s Vita games is God of War: Chains of Olympus, coincidence much? Anyone on the PlayStation should be at least acquainted with Kratos, one of many official whipping boys Sony likes to trot about when things get slow. Fans of God of War are also aware there hasn’t been a new game to the series…
In college I saw some things no one should see and tricked other people into seeing things no one should ever see. Being so knowledgeable about the internet I also knew the rules of the internet, namely rule 34 or ‘If it exist, there is porn of it’. Something that has and probably will always be true. For whatever reason porn designers have taken to Overwatch like sparks to a pile of oil soaked rags. Even since the beta the amount of Overwatch based porn has skyrocketed. Pornhub alone estimates that people looking for Overwatch themed items has increased by…
Race has been a serious issue in this country for a long time but recently things have come to a boil everywhere. What’s important to realize is that it is an issue everywhere and for everyone at some level. While many popular mediums wouldn’t touch such a topic there are always small groups and individuals willing to take the challenge. Video games typically don’t deal with this sort of concept; mainly because it isn’t something that translates to games very well. The recently funded Kickstarter game Four Horsemen is a visual novel that focuses on race relations and the hardships…
